Even as marketers, it’s hard to keep up with the forever-changing world of social media 😅
But our team is in it day in and day out and always likes to stay ahead, so here we are sharing our insights and tips on social media tools to help you with your successful marketing journey.Â
With our strategy-first approach, let’s start from the very beginning and follow the correct flow of tools to get the best out of your marketing and social media.Â
Below, we have identified a list of tools we recommend from the offset in finding the relevant content, how to produce the content, how to expand your reach and make sure you stay consistent, and then, of course, the final stage in the cycle – analysing to see what has worked and what we can do even better!Â
Here is our breakdown below, following the correct order:Â
Creating the contentÂ
1. Use platforms as search engines
One important consideration when creating content is to look at what is trending and to understand what interesting conversations are happening ‘in the now’. This will give you a greater chance of engaging your audience and staying relevant.Â
A brilliant way to do this is to use the social media platforms themselves. You can search by trending hashtags or in the search bar ‘construction market trends’ as one example, and then follow through to the source of the posts and read what they are saying. Just check that the source is credible.Â
Give it a go! Also read one of our recent articles on how to plan your content and advertising.
2. CanvaÂ
One that all marketers love! Canva is an online tool which allows you to create and design social media posts and other content with EASE. It is super user-friendly, which is why we love it, but one word of caution, do not get too carried away with using Canva templates. You can spot them a mile off.Â
The best way to maximise the use of Canva for your marketing is to create your own branded social media templates (we can help 🤣) and then import them into Canva. Then, you are able to easily adapt your own branded templates for future social media posts to maintain brand consistency.Â
If you check out Canva and like the look of it, we recommend upgrading to the professional version as it is very cost-effective for what it unlocks, including a whole bank of royalty-free imagery.

3. AdobeÂ
One not to be overlooked. While Canva is a great place for creating daily content, if you are setting up social media templates for the first time or have a campaign in mind, Abode is the best design platform.Â
It is more flexible than Canva and opens up the potential of real creative design. Our graphic designers use Abode to set their own branded templates and designs and then import them into Canva for our marketers to get to working on them!
Reaching the right peopleÂ
4. Best Hashtags
A great way to reach the right audience is through hashtags – these will help expand your reach, and whilst less valued than they were previously, they are still a really simple and good way to improve your marketing efforts on social media.Â
For this, we use a range of different tools to find the perfect hashtag mix. The idea is to have a mixture of high, medium and low-popularity hashtags. If you get found through a high-popularity hashtag, the opportunity to reach more people is higher, but chances of cutting through the noise are slim; however, if you are successful, you might go viral. If you go for a low-popularity hashtag, you will reach fewer people, but it will be a more targeted audience and more likely to convert to new followers and, ultimately, the customer! As I said, we use a wide range of tools for this, but Best Hashtags is a good place to start – it gives you a mixture of high and low popularity and then breaks this down for you, tells you how many people are using and how likely you are to get engagement.Â
Another trick we have for hashtags is to use the Banned Instagram MetaHashtag Checker. Simply copy and paste your desired hashtags into this website, and it will let you know if any are banned. If you are using banned hashtags on your post, not only are you wasting your precious use of hashtags, but it can also go against you with the algorithms. Â

5. Meta Ads Centre
We all know that organic social media posting is hard work and limited in reaching your desired audience.
That’s where ads come in – you can use Meta Ads Centre to create ads targeted to your specific audience by age, location, and interests. You can set daily, weekly and monthly budgets and set up different campaigns based on your goals – whether that be directing traffic to your website, increasing your brand awareness, or sending a message to your page, to name a few! On Facebook and Instagram, ads can be very cost-effective.
If you want to target B2B professionals in certain job roles and companies, we recommend exploring LinkedIn’s advertising for a more targeted way to reach your audience.

SchedulingÂ
6. Planable
So now you have followed our steps, you know which topics are trending in your desired platform, you have made the posts look great in Canva (and Abode), you have found the best way to reach them through hashtags and ads, you are now ready to schedule up!
Our team here loves Planable, and so do our clients! Planable is a paid-for social media tool which allows you to schedule posts across all the platforms with multiple workboards (we have one workboard per client). You can give clients access so they can approve and comment on posts, allowing complete transparency and ensuring that all our client content is being posted consistently. It is a dream platform to get organised and ahead on content. Â
If you are after a free scheduling tool, we recommend Meta if you are focusing your efforts on Facebook & Instagram.
Reporting
7. Google AnalyticsÂ
All that is left to do is now report! We would recommend setting up a Google Analytics Looker Studio dashboard. This means you can track performance across all your social media platforms and websites to improve your marketing efforts. You can make this completely bespoke to what you and your clients want to see.
Once you can analyse what is working, you can do more of it and watch your platforms grow!
